II. INTRODUCTION TO YOGA MYTHOLOGY: THE TRIADIC HEART
Saturday, January 5
10am-1:30pm
$35

The morning session of our Weekend of Yoga Mythology with Shannon Paige begins with a 90 minute asana practice followed by lecture:

Soulful Slow Flow and Restore – Hanuman’s Heart

Lovingly release your neck, shoulders and upper back to cultivate more positive patterns of self-expression and gain access to your higher mind and emotional heart. This means simply that perhaps wearing your shoulders up in your ears and getting through the day trying to shake out the tension in your upper back is not permitting you to be as kind, communicative and loving as you know you can be. Learn practices and techniques that make you feel fantastic and wanting to share your openness with those you love! Let a story of Hanuman’s sweet and remembrance laden heart inspire you to take these incredibly easy and accessible techniques and practices with you!

Lecture & Discussion:

Learn the major archetypes of the ancient wisdom traditions and discover what they mean to teach and inspire within us. Study that inspirational power held in the teachings of the god, the goddess and the links in between them – their relationships and challenges.

III. EMBOY GANESH: PRACTICE & LECTURE

Saturday, January 5
3-6pm
$35

The afternoon session of our Weekend of Yoga Mythology with Shannon Paige begins with a 90 minute asana practice followed by lecture:

Soulful Slow Flow and Restore – Ganesha’s Gateway, The Lower Back

Radically release your lower back. Learn to ‘let it go’ and to pull yourself across what we lovingly call a ‘Ganesha Gap’, which is a threshold or transition from tension to relief! Our gentle and informed movement will pour itself into a restorative sequence bolstered by myths, legends and guided meditations dedicated to the elephant headed one, Ganesh! Leave your mat wise as an elephant in your lower back! Patterns of quiet and pervasive, well-aligned movement patterns will stick with you for use in your personal practice to keep this relief going!

Lecture & Discussion:

Ganesh is the most beloved god of the Hindu canon. His mantra is the first one offered in any devotional practice, learn why. Know his sweetness and humility, devotion and wisdom. Hear his stories and know why they matter today, to: you, to us, to this and to that.

IV. EXPERIENCE HANUMAN: PRACTICE & LECTURE

Sunday, January 6
10am-1:30pm
$35

Our Weekend of Yoga Mythology with Shannon Paige concludes with a 90 minute asana practice followed by lecture:

Soulful Slow Flow and Restore – Guardians of Change, Hanuman & Ganesh

Your practice is different day-to-day. Most practitioners allow for that. However, have your noticed that it is becoming different year to year, decade to decade? Learn slow flow movement patterns and concepts from ancient stories of Hanuman and Ganesh that help us guard our yoga self-worth against over enthusiasm and resistance to change. Learn mindful self-awareness techniques ‘on the mat’ that help cultivate sound supple movement patterns and a real-time marriage between strength and flexibility. Take this practice with you and nourish your changes, charm your challenges and thoroughly avoid injury across time.

Lecture & Discussion:

Jai Hanuman! Take the leap of presence and practice in this one! He is often depicted opening up his own heart to reveal the contents inside, his best friends waving back. Discover his place in the Hindu canon, learn how he just recently became a god (literally like 400 years ago, though he shows up in stories much earlier… as a sprite!), is respected for being a “shape-shifter” with five unique faces, and continually forgets his powers and remembers them only when reminded to save a friend in need! Take these practices all together and know more about myth and mythology than you ever though you could! Let the ancient wisdom practices reveal their incredibly relevant and live enhancing teachings!

*All practices in our Weekend of Yoga Mythology with Shannon Paige are designed to be taken A La Carte! Sign up for one, two, three or all four sessions.
